Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics

Professor

Ashley H. Priddy Centennial Professor in Engineering

Dr. Humphreys specializes in the application of optimal detection and estimation techniques to problems in satellite navigation and communication, autonomous systems, and signal processing. His recent focus has been on assured perception for autonomous systems, including navigation, timing, and collision avoidance, and on low-Earth-orbiting satellite mega-constellations. Besides being director of WNCG, Dr. Humphreys directs the Radionavigation Laboratory and leads the Pervasive Sensing research thrust in WNCG’s new research center, 6G@UT.

Dr. Humphreys is a Fellow of the Institute of Navigation and the Royal Institute of Navigation. He received the UT Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award in 2012, the NSF Career Award in 2015, the Institute of Navigation Thurlow Award in 2015, and the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE, via National Science Foundation) in 2019.
